About me

I grew up with two brothers in Altadena, CA. Now I work primarily in film production after graduating from Hunter College with a Bachelor’s degree, Winter of 2022! I have been lucky enough to work in childcare throughout college, which has given me flexible hours, but even more importantly, it has given me a sense of purpose, responsibility, and play. As I enter this new phase of post-grad life, I endeavor to keep those values at the forefront of my pursuits.

I have worked in childcare for 10+ years, with children from the ages of 2 to 12 years old, and in groups of up to 30 children at once. I have most recently been part-time caring for a pair of siblings on the Upper West Side; ages 5 and 9. I pick them up from school and walk them home, to the park, or to their extracurricular activities. I play charades and build “Lego museums” with them after I’ve given them a healthy snack and helped with their homework assignments. I have been working with this family on an as-necessary basis, and I have nannied for two other families on a very similar basis, however, I have experience in various childcare roles as an art teacher, camp counselor, language teacher, and tutor. These rules have helped me to acquire an onslaught of special skills; I became a certified lifeguard for the camp counselor role, got recertified in adult and infant CPR as an art teacher, and formally solidified my Norwegian language skills when I wrote my first official curriculum as a language instructor.

I love to sing and write stories, and working with kids so often validates that passion in real-time, that I find I am more creatively fueled in this profession than in any other field I have explored. I also think that caring for a child is a fantastic way to bring care into the lives of your friends, family, community, and self. Children beg an awareness in us about our needs and how to address them with love and compassion.
