About me

I grew up in the now considered "second Manhattan" of New York City aka Brooklyn. I am the baby in my family and that does come with usual pros and cons. I fell in love with writing when I was just 6 years old. For years, I never knew what type of writer I wanted to be. In fact, I enrolled at Laguardia Community College where I obtained my Associate's of Arts degree in Communications. I eventually, with an amazing and thorough epiphany, decided that being a screenwriter was right up my alley of creativity. I've worked on my own short film, well known tv shows and even written my own scripts. I currently still work as a filmmaker with the intention of becoming a renowned filmmaker one day. I'm currently attending Brooklyn College where I'm acquiring my Bachelor's in psychology; currently trying to figure out which graduate schools to apply for (suggestions are welcomed!) I would also like to be a mental health therapist to adults of course; but primarily adolescents.
When my sister had her first baby, I took on the role and responsibility of being an Aunt, but also becoming his second mom and helping to raise him. He ended up having autism, which allowed me to deepen my connection by learning how to care for children with disabilities. I'm a strong advocate of gentle parenting within the home and teaching children what not to do and why, instead of the toxic phrase of "Because I said so!" I'm a big communicator and believe in fairness when it comes to children. They too have emotions and they too go through things. They are our future and we all should want them to feel loved, appreciated, seen and accepted. I've spent some of my time working alongside teachers when I originally majored in Childhood Education at my college (and thus eventually switching majors). I've worked as a babysitter/nanny for 7 years and counting. Throughout my time doing so, I've babysat infants, toddlers, school aged children and even teenagers! Alongside children with disabilities such as autism and ADHD. I'm extremely comfortable taking care of all ages, though my favorite is so hard to choose whenever anyone asks me! During my numerous cases of babysitting, I've had to get children ready for school and even pick them up and commute with them to after school activities. I've prepared meals for them, fed babies and toddlers, changed diapers, created educational and fun games to play, taken them on multiple field trips, putting them into bed and also a few housekeeping tasks such as laundry and tidying up.
As someone who grew up not being able to have a voice and sometimes not feeling seen, I don't want any child to feel what I felt. I want them to be happy in the best way possible. When they ask for something, I acknowledge them, even bending down to their level so that they know I'm paying attention. I ask them how they would like to be consoled, what can we work on together to succeed. I think many adults forget that kids are human beings with feelings and they are our future; so we need them to know that they are important.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

An inspiration to children as their mental health therapist. Being the reason why they continue to want to be alive and finally feeling like they have someone to talk to.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Writing, most importantly. I also love singing (even though I'm terrible at it) -- but I can listen to music all the time and I sing along with the music as I'm doing so. Dancing too, since I used to be a dancer. Arts and crafts, being creative, reading are all my specialty skills. also just recently got into baking. So want someone who can bake cookies and cakes? You found her! --- Though, I'm still a little rough around the edges, but practice makes us better! And who doesn't want to be a taste tester to some delicious baked treats?!
