About me

Growing up as the youngest of four kids in Atlanta, I always wanted a younger sibling, but I stayed the youngest (and the only girl!). After years of caring for baby dolls and my younger cousins, I realized that I have always been a natural caretaker. I continued my passion for care-taking in college where I studied child developmental psychology and volunteered at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children. Carnegie Mellon is known for the sleepless nights and crazy class schedules, but I still spent my summers helping the school at the summer Pre-College program where over 500 high school students stayed in dorms on campus. I still check in on those students regularly.

Since moving to New York, I have been caring for children in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Over 4 years ago, I joined SmartSitting and I have been lucky enough to work with wonderful families with children ranging from new born to 13 years old. My favorite memories of New York usually involve one of our many adventures: taking the East River Ferry from Queens to DUMBO for lunch; seeing Newsies on Broadway and seeing the look on the child's face when we went backstage to meet the star of the show; and many more. My background in theater helps to add a sense of play and curiosity to my child-caring style. I find it easy to go from learning Spanish with special dance moves to sitting down and figuring out the division of fractions. Gratitude and kindness are very important to me and I try to share that with everyone I meet. I would love to continue to have a positive impact on all the children I interact with here in the city and elsewhere.
