About me

Hi! My name is Ben and I am a 30 year old college graduate living and working in NYC as a theater professional. I attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated with a BFA in Drama with a Minor in Philosophy. I have cared for both boys and girls ages 2-17, providing mentorship, education, and/or tutoring, but above all, a safe, comfortable living environment. I was raised in the south of France and in South Florida.

Theater and performance have been an essential element throughout my childhood. I have had babysitters that encouraged my creativity and curiosity within the arts, and have provided all the while a safe and comfortable environment. I was raised that way and hope to impart similar drive and love for artistic activities to children that I babysit. I have years of experience in creating plays and circuses starring the child (and occasionally stuffed animals and action figures). For older kids, I am well-versed in a range of activities, sports, and video games. When babysitting I attend to every moment as part of an overall experience that is structured, fun, and safe.

My philosophy is centered on building a trusting relationship that involves fun, safety, respect, and curiosity. I encourage the kids I care for to try new activities, build strong friendships, analyze and work through everyday problems. I see myself as big brother role model in the child's life. I foster an environment that promotes silliness and compassion.

As a young theater professional, I enjoy reading periodicals featuring current events and philosophical essays. I love going to museums and setting up picnics in the park. I enjoy old movies and am a huge movie buff (I know everything about the James Bond series). Having graduated from college with a BFA in Drama I have nurtured my passion of the arts by sharing it with children of all ages.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working for a theater while producing and directing my own work. (Oh, wow! I'm already doing that! Cool!)

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I am fluent in English and Italian, and proficient in German and French. I am a great cook and take pride in expanding a child's palette to foods they don't usually eat. I love putting on shows and circuses with kids. And I really enjoy making up new games and activities.
