About me

I grew up in a small town alongside my brother and 16 cousins. We all spent about half our time on our grandparent's farm where we had room to explore the landscape, ride horses and four-wheelers, swim, and interact with all the critters around. With so many of us, and I being on the older end of my cousins, I wanted to take care of everyone. I also got used to the fun, loud, and sometimes challenging chaos that can come with having that many children around and it's made me able to navigate calmly through pretty much any situation. I learned a lot of my core communication skills, especially with infants and babies, from watching my grandma with so many. I carry a lot of her tricks and intuitive way of reading and relating to them in my work.

I have been working as a nanny for about 11 years. I have held many jobs, varying in duties and ages from infants to 15 years old. I am very interactive and like to develop a trusting environment. I am a very independent worker in general and happy to jump in when things arise but am also experienced with collaborative environments with parents, nannies, and other families. I value a good sense of communication and partnership with the families I work for. In addition to childcare, I have experience with house management, cleaning, cooking, laundry, running errands, and transportation/planning outings, homework help, pet care...ex. In my personal time, I like to travel, enjoy cooking, and I also work part-time for a ceramic sculptor. I do not smoke, can swim, and have my driver's license.

I thought about going into education but realized that I wanted to make a more individual impact and be an additive person in children's lives who they can go to to really feel listened to and comfortable expressing or practicing expressing what they need at the time. I'd love to meet your family and see if we'll be a great fit!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years, I see myself owning a studio that would provide a space for young people to come to learn from educators in the arts. I would love to make it a residency program for working artists and educators to come to make and get the opportunity to teach and expose younger generations to the craft. I especially find it important to make this as accessible as possible to children/young people who would not so easily have access.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I really love to facilitate children's own interests and deep dive with them to see what the possibilities are within those. For me, I love to learn and hear about new things that I wouldn't necessarily look into on my own, so doing that research alongside them and discovering what it is they really enjoy about a topic or activity is something I love to foster. I was a nanny for a ten-year-old boy who had an obsession with reptiles and we would talk about it for hours, go to the local zoos and wildlife centers, and see how learning other subjects could really aid in knowing more about these animals he loved. I also liked helping him feel confident in what he enjoyed and encouraged him to share his passions and put them into his life.
