About me

I grew up in Seattle, Washington, loving all things nature and exploring. Growing up, I had lots of issues with my teeth, visiting lots of specialists to get them fixed. Thus, from a very young age, I knew I wanted to pursue dentistry. In school, I found an even deeper love for science, so when I moved to Denver, Colorado about four years ago, I attended Community College of Aurora graduating with my Associates of General Science. I am now a junior at Pace University in New York, New York, majoring in Chemistry and pursuing the pre-dental track.

I am the youngest of two children, but I always begged my parents for a younger sibling. Even from a young age, I've had a talent and a love for working with kids. I've spent both the school and summer months babysitting kids since 2015. In Seattle, I worked for two families. I looked after a 10-year-old boy who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I would look after him in the morning before school, helping him get around the house, in the bathroom, getting him food (including tube feeding and medicines), and assisting him onto the school bus. The second family I worked for has three children, one 1-year-old girl and two boys, a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old. I typically watched them on weekends when the family requested help, assisting with homework, providing transportation to and from events, providing entertainment, providing food, and putting them down for naps. In Denver, I worked with one family that has only one 4-year-old girl starting in 2018. I would work only when the family requested my assistance. My duties included assisting with homework, making food, doing housework, providing entertainment, and occasionally going on a fun outing.

The most formative years of childhood are from ages 0 to 8 and working with children in this range has shown me that this is in fact very true. Within these years, kids learn and grow so much, so to be able to guide them and watch them experience this time is such a rewarding adventure. Each child is an individual, with their own skills, interests, and hobbies so to be a part of a child's life, to be someone they can rely on and explore their passions with is a privilege.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In dental school! I'm planning to graduate with my bachelor's degree within 2 to 3 years, then continue on to a specialized program, hopefully somewhere in New York! Additionally, I hope to have a permanent position with a family. I am a firm believer in consistency when working with a family, so hopefully, I'll find that perfect match!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Include baking/cooking, doing schoolwork, and going on adventures! First, I view cooking/ baking as an at-home science experiment. It is a great way for kids to not only explore how different ingredients work with one another but to try a fun and delicious activity. Second, school can be a chore for some kids, but as someone who loves school and teaching, I consider sitting down to do assignments with them a fun activity. Homework can seem daunting, especially when you're young, but that's why I'm here to help. Lastly, whether it be going to a museum, the zoo, or a local park, I think it is so important to get the kids outside, get some fresh air, and keep them moving!
