About me

My name is Janile but everybody calls me Jani. I'm an only child and I grew up in a very small town in Venezuela, named Cabimas. I went to Rafael Belloso Chacin University (URBE) and my degree is a Bachelor of Science in mass communications with a major in journalism. After I finished college, I kept working in my family business, a school that my mom opened when I was 16 years old, and the place where I worked since I was 18. My experience with children goes back to when I was a teenager and through my college years so for me, it feels natural to pursue a job related to the field.
I have been working with children as a classroom teacher, as a nanny, and part-time babysitter. My first experience was as an assistant teacher in the nursery room, ages 12 months to 19 months old. We had a program where we combined free to play and activities, circle time, reading time, and snacks.
In my first part-time nanny job, here in the US, I worked with twins and my responsibilities were to pick them up from school and take them to different activities in the area, cook dinner, have bath time, and light cleaning of the play area, kids room and kitchen.
After that, I had another part-time job, with a 3-year-old girl, where I picked her up from school, arranged playdates, took her around the city for music and art classes, made dinner and laundry for her, and also did light cleaning of the kitchen, room and play area.
Following that position, I worked with a 9-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. My responsibilities were to pick them up from the bus stop and take them to different activities in the area, help them with homework and make sure all the activities related to school were done. Grocery shopping, laundry for the kids, cooking dinner, bath time, and light cleaning of the kid's room and kitchen.
During COVID, I worked on and off with different families and had similar responsibilities around the house as my previous jobs. I helped more with school assignments as the classes were online.
In my latest position, I took care of a 16-month-old and a 3-year-old boy. I was in charge of changing diapers, nap time, cooking lunch, and preparing lunch boxes and snacks. Setting toys and activities in the play area, arranging playdates, and bath time, and organizing toys and everything related to the boys.
I love reading time with children, getting them involved with books, and asking questions about it in a fun way. I like to paint and do crafts. I believe it is a great bonding activity, it helps them bring out their creative side and is a tool to teach them colors, shapes, numbers, words, and many aspects related to the specific project that you are making.
