About me

Hi, my name is Sophia Megias-Festa and I grew up in Maspeth, Queens. I have one sister who is only 16 months older than me so we grew up and still are very close. As young girls, basketball was our passion and encouraged friendly competition as well as teamwork. I have 3 little girls of my own: 9, 8, and 5 years old. We’re big pet lovers and have 3 dogs and one cat of our own. We love to play basketball, do art projects, cook, read books, and explore. Currently, I am studying to become a nurse at York College. As an RN, I hope to someday work more closely with children or the elderly.

I have been working with children for over 10 years. As a nanny, I’ve been in charge of taking care of children as young as 10 months old. I was responsible for him for most of the day so I always prepared food that was suitable for his age group, changed diapers, gave baths, had nap time, and went on walks in his stroller. The oldest child I’ve taken care of was 9 years old when I began and terminated when she outgrew me and went to high school. I was able to see her mature into a respectful young lady. I am currently certified in First Aid/CPR/AED for adults, children, and infants by Red Cross and BLS certified by the American Heart Association. I am also fully vaccinated and booster against COVID-19.

Interacting with children, for me, has always been very interesting and easy. I enjoy getting to know the children I’m with by doing things they like, whether it’s sports, the arts, books, or just a good time. I enjoy doing many different things but enjoy basketball and music the most.
