About me

Hi there! I grew up on Long Island with two younger brothers. When I was younger, I used to be super shy. I liked to do a lot of activities on my own. I was very into doing arts and crafts when I was at home. I was always painting, drawing, making origami, etc. I was also very into music. I played the cello in school and took piano and guitar lessons outside of school. I would practice every day and try to create my own music (it wasn't very good, unfortunately).
I am currently a full-time online student studying human services. I will be getting my Associate's degree in December. In the spring semester, I hope to transfer to CUNY SPS to complete my Bachelor's degree in psychology online. Once I am finished with my education, I hope to work in foster care or child protective services. I was adopted when I was 6 years old and my goal has always been to do work that will help children who have gone through similar experiences that I did.
While I have been in school (before and during college), I have tried to get experience with children of many different backgrounds/ages. I started babysitting as soon as I was old enough. In high school, I decided to volunteer at Cohen Children's Hospital. I was there for about a year. This was an amazing experience. Although it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do in the future, I was able to experience working with children that were going through a tough situation. The feeling of being someone that was able to put a smile on their faces on a hard day was super fulfilling and I hope to be able to do that in the future.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

When working with children, I love to do many different types of activities. One of my favorites is going to the zoo. I like to spend some time there and then come home and talk about what we have seen. This was something I did with a previous child I worked with. We spent a couple of hours at one of the zoos in NYC and then went home. Once we were home, we ate lunch and then discussed the different animals we saw. We watched videos/read books that taught us facts about our favorite animals from that day. I was learning along with him.
