About me

Hi! My name is Amanda Lopez. I’m Cuban-American, born and raised in Miami, FL. I’ve been a theatre kid my whole life - started dancing at age 3, joined the choir and sang all through elementary school, and combined it all and jumped into all my high school's musicals. I got my Bachelor's in Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory and have been working Off-Broadway and regionally in theater since 2015.

In my moments of not having a theater job, being with children has always been my go-to job (probably because I’m just a big kid at heart.) I’ve ranged from camp counseling and putting on musicals with kids in high school to now being a sitter here in New York City for the last 7 years. Along with sitting, I also began work with a company in Yonkers and began working with these kids on putting up musicals of their own! I was a director, choreographer, music director, and stage manager for various productions with their children - ranging from ages 4-14. From those productions, I created my own mini voice studio of about 6 or 7 children and gave them private voice lessons weekly.

In my time in the city, I’ve been a part-time, full-time, date night, dog/house sitter for multiple families! My first family was a set of twins - began with them at age 8 - and they were both incredibly different - one loved being outside and ice skating and the other loved watching moving inside and playing video games. My second family was two boys - began with them ages 7 and 8 (now they’ve both had their bar mitzvahs!) For both families, my duties included pickups from school, after-school activities/friends activities, homework help, occasional late lunch/dinners, and all the fun and entertainment!

I’ll say again that I’m a big kid at heart - I love to be outdoors - play basketball and run around a playground. I’m also a great player of board games and can make a mean LEGO house. Whether we’re out exploring or reading a book, I believe I’d be a great addition to helping your kids grow!
