About me
Hi! My name is Ava and I am 23 years old. I grew up on the Upper West Side where I still live. I hold a bachelor’s in studio art from Hunter College. I hope to one day pursue a master’s in art therapy, but for now, am hoping to work and gain some life experience! As an older sister, I grew up being familiar with being around younger children and taking care of them, which nurtured my interest in being a babysitter. Plus, the Upper West Side is a family neighborhood so it was always easy for me to get jobs! Since I graduated in the spring, I have spent my time babysitting and working in visitor services at the Jewish Museum which I am really enjoying!
I have been working in childcare since I was a child myself—I started babysitting in my building when I was 12 years old! All of my experiences have varied, whether it was date-night babysitting or more long-term after-school care. I have also worked with a range of ages, from 1 to 11. Through these experiences, I became quite familiar with after-school routines, making dinner, helping with homework, and the bedtime routine. With younger children, I have experience taking them to the playground/museums/zoos/libraries and keeping them happy, healthy, and entertained. I have worked with a range of personalities, from anxious to outgoing, from artistic to athletic. I am CPR certified and am very diligent when watching over children.
I have chosen to pursue nannying because nothing has brought me more joy than building close relationships with children. I love having a job where I feel like I am part of a family and feel close to the people I work for. I also really enjoy spending time with children of all ages, I gain so much out of learning about the world through their eyes. Children are the future, and I want to play a role in nurturing kind, empathetic, and bright individuals who will shape our world. I look forward to hearing from you and your family :)
