About me

Hi! I’m Sarah, and I can’t wait to meet you. I grew up in rural New Jersey putting on musicals for my parents, who in adulthood are more like my best friends. I have my undergraduate degree in music and theater from The University of the Arts, and as a young adult I was a dance and acting teacher at a performing arts school where I worked with children ages 2-10. I am months away from graduating with my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Champlain College, and love learning about the way small children think about the world. My mom has been a Pre-K teacher for my entire life, so I’ve grown up deeply believing in the philosophy that children respond best to a combination of productive energy, teachable moments, and love.

I have been nannying for over 10 years. During my time in Philadelphia, I worked with ages 2 months-16 years, worked with up to 3 young children at a time, and managed household schedules. I am well-seasoned in every moment of a child’s day: from early wakeup and the before-school routine to school pickup and after-school homework, all the way to the dinner/bed/bath routine, I am comfortable with it all. I am familiar with both formula and breast milk bottle prep, and baby-led weaning. I am more than happy to help around the house with dishes, laundry, and other tidying chores if this is something that your family would like assistance with! I am currently a teacher at a private school in Manhattan, working with one of my favorite ages, a 3-year-olds. It is my job to create an age-appropriate and engaging curriculum, plan lessons, and foster healthy social and emotional growth in my students. I work with families daily to accommodate each child’s specific needs and maintain close relationships with their parents and caretakers through in-person meetings and email communication.

My favorite hobbies are cooking and baking with close family, writing songs and musicals, and when I have the time and proper space..fostering dogs! I fostered 8 dogs over the course of the pandemic and found the work to be so rewarding.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Traveling more often and thinking about starting a family of my own. I would like to write a children's book by this time as well.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Dancing, singing, drawing. Respect for nature and wildlife. And I love to highlight and teach empathy...it is such an important skill for children to learn early on in their lives.
