About me

I grew up in Lower Manhattan right across the street from the South Street Seaport. I have a 13-year-old brother and he received speech/occupational therapy services. As a child I always loved writing, going to the beach, pool, and amusement parks, and playing tennis/basketball/baseball. I went to school to study a minor in English and a major in Elementary Education at St. Thomas Aquinas College for my bachelor's degree. After that, I worked full-time as a teacher at Reade Street Prep in Tribeca, while getting my master's degree in Early Childhood and Special Education at Touro University. Once I got my master's degree I continued teaching and migrated to St. Ann's in East Harlem to teach preschool for 4 years, then Guardian Angel School in Chelsea to teach preschool for one year, and finally a nanny.
My first position was in Tribeca working with 2/3-year-olds alongside a co-teacher. We conducted daily lessons using SmartBoard technology, manipulatives, art, music, phonics, science, math, gross motor play, fine motor play, and lunch (maintained an allergy-free classroom according to the specifics of that class.) After that, I became a Lead Teacher for 4/5-year-olds with my own assistant. There were a few students with special needs (speech, ADHD, Autism, Behavioral Issues). We conducted experiments, created charts/graphs/art/music instruments, and grew to be a "school family" each year. Once the pandemic hit I worked in a hybrid classroom environment at Guardian Angel School. Half the students were home and the other half was on Zoom for the lessons. Although challenging I put socio-emotional support as a priority for the children/parents and this allowed us to flourish. The parents gave a gracious gift/speech at the end of that school year and it's one of my best teaching moments. Next, I started to Nanny for a 2-month-old in order to narrow my focus on helping families. I cleaned, cooked, prepared bottles, had bath time, fed, had tummy time, and went for walks.
I love working with children because they are the future. I believe in learning through fun, making them feel safe, and nurturing socio-emotional development. I thrive off of communication and working as a team.
