About me

I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan with an older brother. As a child, I enjoyed playing various sports, specifically water polo, doing different types of art, and baking. For my undergraduate degree, I went to the University of Michigan where I studied education. In college I was a tutor at a neighborhood center for elementary and middle school students, babysat and nannied for families, & was involved in various clubs. I began getting my master's at Boston University in January of 2021 and I am in my final semester right now in a Master's of Education in Teaching and Curriculum. For the last two years, while getting my master's, I was a 7th-grade science teacher in Fall River, Massachusetts. I have had a passion for working with children my entire life and have had experience working with them in many capacities.

I began babysitting and nannying when I was 12 years old and have continued to have jobs that surround children since then. Most of the families I babysat for during high school were date nights, but I did nanny for one of my former teachers for 3 years. The kids were 3, 6,&9 when I started and were 6, 9&12 when they moved away. I would help the children with homework, bake with them, play various games and activities, and cook them dinner. During the summers of college I worked with a family with 3 boys, aged 4, 7&10 the first summer and 5, 8&11 the second. Responsibilities included feeding them breakfast and lunch, making sure they completed any chores or summer homework their mom wanted them to complete and planning different activities for us to do, which usually involved being outside, playing sports, or playing board games. During the last two years while I was a teacher, I also weekly babysat a little girl, she was 5 when I started and 6 when I left. I got her off the bus, made her a snack, did homework, did crafts, played with barbies or other toys, made her dinner, and then would read.

I want to transition to being a nanny full time so that I can form close relationships with the children and help them succeed in all aspects of their life. I am fun and energetic, but also have strong boundaries and high expectations.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

As a former science teacher, I love doing science experiments or having children investigate something curious to them in their life and guiding them along to new discoveries. I enjoy teaching children how to bake and baking something together. I enjoy doing different types of arts and crafts with them and teaching them a new form of art or doing art differently. I was also a football coach and played many sports myself growing up, so I enjoy playing sports and different games with children as well.
