About me

Hi there!
I’m Raquel Kahn. I’m a proud Philadelphia Native and have been a New Yorker since 2014. I moved to the city to pursue Acting and Musical Theater at Marymount Manhattan College and have been in love with it ever since. While I always loved singing as a child, I grew up an avid horseback rider and always loved children. In addition to being a big sister which has always been one of my favorite things about myself, my childcare career began at just age 12, when I worked as a CIT at the toddler camp I had attended myself. I have worked in childcare ever since.

I babysat ages 3-12 throughout high school. During college, I babysat for a family with an 11-year-old girl who I would pick up from school, take to and pick up from activities, bring home and help with homework and dinner. While home in Philly one summer from college I lead a theater program at a daycare/summer camp for children ages 3 through 12. I taught music, led theater games, created a play, and encouraged creative play. The summer after I graduated college I taught music classes for infants through 3-year-olds while also working at the program's theater summer camp for ages 4 - 9. That fall I was hired to stay on as the assistant teacher in the preschool for the 3-year-olds. I helped with music, art, snack time, outside play, P.E, and all general activities. After leaving to be in a children’s play during the winter I began working for two different families, both with kids ages 1.5 and 3 - one of the families also had an infant. I would help with nap time, after-school pickup, taking both children to activities, and bed and bath time. I also traveled to Nantucket with one of the families for a week.

Childhood development is something I take very seriously and understand the importance all adults play in children’s lives. I strive to create creative, compassionate, and encouraging environments to help children grow into their most authentic selves. I look forward to meeting you and your family!
