About me
Hello, my name is Emilia! I'm from Seattle and grew up as one of seven, with three sets of twins among my siblings (I am one of the twins!). Coming from such a large family I like to think I was born to thrive in the chaos that comes with working with children!
I relocated here to NYC for many reasons, with one being to finish my degree in social work at Fordham University, where I hope to have the opportunity to continue my passion for working with children. Don't worry though, I have no plans to leave the city upon getting my degree!
As a nanny, I have experience with all ages but especially love to work with infants and toddlers. In Seattle, I primarily worked in nanny-share roles (two families with similar hourly needs will share a nanny who cares for both children together), and am sad to see it's not as big of a thing here in NYC! The more babies the better -- right?!
Aside from experience working with multiple infants simultaneously, I am a pro with all things baby and child-related! I've of course had experience with cloth/reg diapers, proper warming techniques with breastmilk/formula, timing sleep/wake windows, and overall ensuring all of the needs of the children I care for are met.
Additionally, I am committed to ensuring kiddos hit their developmental milestones and are exposed to a well-rounded environment designed to help them thrive. I am a huge supporter of baby-led weaning, sensory play, baby/toddler sign language, play-based learning, and getting kiddos out and about as much as possible!
While I do love schedules and structure -- I would describe myself as laid back and calm, as have many of the families I've worked with in the past!
I identify most with the Montessori approach and gentle discipline philosophy -- discipline for me normally follows an acknowledge/validate/redirect method as opposed to a traditional time out. Helping kids learn to process their feelings in a shame-free environment is my goal!
My ideal family to work with is one that values open and honest communication and sees our relationship as a professional, and collaborative one. Having a strong sense of autonomy in my role, and feeling valued is huge for me!
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers

In 5 years, I hope to be...
Working with kids! I came to NYC to finish my social work degree in hopes of broadening the scope of children I would have the opportunity to work with. It has always been my goal to work with underserved children that truly need someone to advocate for them -- and I'm excited to get closer to doing just that!
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Cooking and kindness. I always hope to be able to help aid in raising overall good humans!
