About me

I am originally from the Baltimore, Maryland area. I have a little sister who I like to consider my first student. I moved to North Carolina for college and received a B.A. in Elementary Education. After graduating, I moved to Washington D.C. and was a member of a professional dance troupe, taught dance classes, and was the Assistant Coach for a nationally ranked dance team. I then moved to New York City where I was the Lead Dance Teacher for an elementary school in Brooklyn.
I have worked as a camp volunteer, dance teacher, classroom teacher, tutor, and nanny. I began volunteering while in middle school at my local camp child care center. In high school, I babysat and taught dance classes to children ages 2 through 6. In college, I started as an after-school babysitter for a wonderful family with 3 children, 5, 7, and 9 years old. Duties included school pick up, coordinating transportation to extracurriculars, helping with homework, and creating engaging activities that limited screen time, laundry, meal prep, and bedtime. After college, I moved in with the family to be a full-time nanny and household manager. I ran errands, completed household organizational projects, and proactively attended to anything that needed attention in the home. I also traveled with the family for up to two weeks at a time and was available to help in any way needed. When I moved to Washington D.C. I was a summer nanny for two boys, ages 11 and 13. Responsibilities included camp drop-off and pick-up, organizing outings, meal prep, running errands, grocery shopping, laundry, housekeeping, and organizational projects. Most recently I taught dance to 400+ elementary students weekly. In addition to creating and implementing a dance curriculum, I taught literacy and phonics to students needing individualized accommodations.
A child’s social-emotional well-being is of the utmost importance to me. I believe when a child feels safe and nurtured that is when they truly thrive. This can be taught through self-regulation techniques and play-based learning where we are still having fun but also learning how to be kind, empathetic human beings. Working with children is my lifelong passion!

still working with children and also pursuing a graduate degree in the education field.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love going outdoors with children! Also depending on the age and interests of the child I love to bring my dance background into the activities we do whether that be making up dances together where I encourage them to use their imagination and also nurturing decision-making skills or playing dance games that help develop gross motor skills. I also like to teach self-regulation and de-escalation techniques to work through emotions and anxiety.
