About me

I grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I am the eldest of five daughters and essentially have been a full-time caretaker since I was six years old. I was born an artist in practically every medium.
I began short-term after-school nannying in High School and worked primarily with children who had learning and emotional disabilities. My first consistent part-time nannying job was with a mother and her son who struggled emotionally. I was responsible for feeding, bathing, activity planning, reading help, bedtime, etc. Understanding the passion and skill I had in caregiving, rooted in my upbringing of being the eldest of five, I decided to pursue other part-time/ after-school childcare positions. When I was seventeen (Summer of 2015) I began working with a family on the Upper West Side. I was responsible for watching, bathing, feeding, changing, pick/drop off, and as a part-time tutor. I was also responsible for planning exciting, educational, and stimulating activities. I would plan visits to gardens, museums, libraries, monuments, nature outings, etc. When I was not at school or traveling, I was the “go-to” nanny.
At Hampshire College, I studied philosophy, education, art history, and aesthetic relativism. I had the opportunity to construct a graduate-level thesis (called a Division Three Project) in psychology and aesthetic relativism. I studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh in 2018. After graduating in 2020, I received my Level 5 TEFL certification. I'm an experienced nanny, tutor, special education teacher/ paraprofessional, curriculum consultant. I also have experience teaching chess, music, Spanish, and art.
I believe that the children I’ve cared for have taught me more than I have taught them. The incredible and creative insights that every child has regarding our world are often overlooked and/or dismissed. A caregiver should be able to provide not only safety and structure, but have the ability to inspire, listen, adapt, and learn. I am a curious, creative, empathic, and observant person. I hope that I can aid the growth in the children that determine not only the future, but the present.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach/share music (and its subsequent activities, i.e. dancing, singing, instruments). I also love to paint, write and/or construct stories (that are so fun to illustrate!), and problem-solve creatively. I love encouraging exploration, creativity, confidence, and independence.
