About me

Hey there! I’m originally from Massachusetts but grew up mostly in North Carolina in a small-ish town 30 minutes north of Charlotte. I grew up with a teacher and ADHD advocate as a mom and a brother who loved football and race cars. I did a little bit of everything growing up from cheerleading to karate, but I landed on theatre and have stuck with it since! I graduated from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY with my B.A. in Theatre Studies. I entered college to pursue acting but realized I was much more interested in theatrical research and directing and have used that knowledge as an elementary school theatre teacher. During college, I also learned about Theatre for Young Audiences and focused my senior honors thesis on how theatre can be used to increase literacy in early childhood education.

I started caring for children after taking my local hospital’s babysitter preparedness course in middle school. I started working as an occasional babysitter for one family when their oldest child was about 6 weeks old. The family has since had a second child, who I have also cared for, who is starting kindergarten this year! I also worked with a family of tweens and helped each child pursue their interests while providing care for all three. I worked with the oldest on audition preparation for her school musical, tutored the middle child in Algebra, and helped create a routine for the youngest child who had recently received an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.

I also worked for my hometown Parks and Recreation department for three years. I started as a Summer Camp Counselor and left as a Youth Programming Specialist. In these roles, I worked directly with children ages 5-12 for summer camp and facilitated Community Outreach events for ages 3-10.

I love visiting museums, libraries, and parks to learn more about my community and I love to share this passion with children. My favorite thing to do is to introduce little minds to new art, books, and pieces of history! I believe all learning happens through play and all play can be educational!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Storytime is my favorite time of day. My home was always full of books as a child and I loved hearing stories with funny voices and tons of wacky characters. I'm also very interested in involving children in care tasks in age-appropriate ways. I think it's important to involve them in preparing snacks, tidying play areas, and caring for family pets. Lastly, I will never say no to a field trip! I love sharing my favorite libraries and parks with children.
