About me

Hi! I'm Emma Cavage. I am a caregiver and theatre artist. I was born in Absecon, New Jersey, and grew up playing soccer, flag football, softball, and basketball, and spending a lot of time with my parents and my two dogs. I'm an only child, and very close to my parents. I'm a true extrovert, and friendship and community are very important to me; I'm happiest when I'm connecting with other people. When I was 10 we moved to Savannah, Georgia - where I attended Savannah Country Day Prep School. It was there I discovered my love for theatre, as well as swimming. I received a Varsity Letter my freshmen year and went on to become captain my junior year. I also was actively involved in the student council and was Secretary my senior year. I went to Boston University School of Theatre for college. In May 2022, I received my BFA in Theatre Arts with a Directing Concentration and a Minor in Arts Leadership.
Right after my high graduation, I worked at Seacrest Daycare. At Seacreast I worked in the infant room in the mornings and spent afternoons in either the 2-year-old room or 4-year-old room. As an assistant teacher, I helped with feedings, nap-time, clean-up, and enrichment activities. In the infant room, we took a very careful approach and made sure each infant had individual attention for nap time and bottles, as well as one-on-one enrichment and activity time. I am especially passionate about infant care and enrichment! In the summer of 2022, I returned to Savannah Country Day School's Summer Camp as the Drama Specialist; in this position, I created the curriculum for the summer drama program, as well as taught classes K-8 (though most of my classes were Kindergarten, 1st Grade, or 4th & 5th grade). This is not the first time I've worked for my alma mater; in high school, I served as a middle school math tutor, and as an assistant for a weekend basketball clinic for grades 1-5. I have also nannied/long-term babysat for four families.
I am a creative, positive person. I love creating activities, building connections, and providing enrichment for children of all ages!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

My ultimate dream is to Direct a Musical on Broadway. In the next 5 years, I hope I am an Assistant/Associate Directing on Broadway! I am currently taking a break from theatre (Jan-June 2024) to focus on childcare and other areas of my life.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love walking around with kids - whether it's a stroller walks, or a scavenger hunt, or a casual walk & talk. Art and music are always my go to's - crafts can be for all ages, and music & singing is a great way to engage younger brains. With older kids, I love sports, board games, and helping with homework! No matter the age, having reading time or reading out loud is something I try to work in to our schedule - it's so good for the imagination and development!
