About me

My name is Hebatalla and I live in Astoria, Queens where I grew up and attended high school. I hold a bachelor's degree of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Science accredited from Queens College, the City University of New York. In addition, I am a certified personal trainer and sports coach, which is my primary profession, aside from being a babysitter. I am also CPR certified, ensuring that I am well-equipped to handle any emergency situations that may arise. As the second child in a family of six, I have had the opportunity to learn the importance of hard work and raising well-rounded children. My parents, a lawyer, and a teacher, instilled in us the value of both academics and sports. They worked tirelessly to raise four well-rounded children, who are currently pursuing degrees in physical therapy and mechanical engineering. We also have a brilliant 9-year-old in the family! I have always been an energetic and multi-sport student-athlete, having played varsity lacrosse and basketball in high school and college. I was an All-American in women’s lacrosse in 2018 and a 2x All-star in high school. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to receive a very valuable education by being enrolled in a British & French school system and so I took classes in English, French & Arabic up until 8th grade. I was then enrolled in a fully American private high school system. I was also enrolled in swimming, volleyball, and computer classes. I was lucky enough to be raised as a well-rounded kid in school which helped me greatly with my babysitting career. My hobbies include coaching sports, working out, learning new languages, traveling, and reading & writing. As a middle child of four, caregiving has always been a natural part of my day-to-day life. I turned to childcare as a profession during my high school years and have since worked as a babysitter and a kids' sports coach for over 9 years. Additionally, I have experience working with children who have Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), among other conditions.

Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to work with several families in various babysitting roles. In my first role, from 2017-2019, I provided care for a 4-year-old girl and engaged her in various indoor and outdoor activities, such as games, walks to the park, reading, writing, homework help, and meal preparation. I was responsible for ensuring she maintained a daily schedule, healthy habits, and good hygiene. In a separate role during the same period, I was a babysitter and tutor for a 5-year-old boy. My duties included transporting the child to and from school and playdates, preparing light meals and snacks, engaging him in both English and Arabic languages through indoor and outdoor activities, and teaching him to read and write in Arabic. Additionally, I was responsible for his bedtime routine, ensuring he was clean and ready for bed. From 2019 to July 2022, I worked with a different family as a babysitter, tutor, and sports coach for a 7-year-old boy and his 9-year-old sister. My responsibilities included transportation, homework help, snack preparation, engaging the children in indoor and outdoor activities, such as lacrosse and swimming lessons, singing, crafting, and baking. I also ensured that their living and play areas were clean and tidy and helped them with bedtime routines.

I go by 5 philosophies when approaching kids which include safety first, always being patient, clear communication, empathy, flexibility, and play-based learning. The safety of the children under my care is always my top priority which means I take measures to ensure their physical safety, such as childproofing the environment and supervising their activities, as well as their emotional safety, such as providing a nurturing and supportive environment. Children are unique individuals who deserve to be treated with respect and empathy. As a babysitter, I ensure that I listen to their needs, opinions, and concerns, and provide them with positive reinforcement and encouragement. I facilitate their learning by engaging them in age-appropriate activities that are fun and educational. This can include games, crafts, reading, and imaginative play. I keep my communication very clear with kids and their parents to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Children can be unpredictable, and as a babysitter, I’m very flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances, adjusting to your plans and activities as needed to accommodate the needs and preferences of the children under my care. Moreover, I like valuing their questions, finding answers together, giving them time and space to explore, and most importantly, accepting that those explorations are often messy yet we can learn together from those mistakes. I often suggest extending their exploration by asking questions like, “What would happen if we try this instead?” I believe that writing and drawing are good ways to record observations and so I enjoy helping kids engage in those important skills. I’m skilled at developing and leading children in fun learning activities. I also grew a love for teaching them academically as well, I have done tutoring and still tutor many of the children I babysit. My goal is to be a role model and to inspire future generations. When I'm not babysitting, I'm usually studying, coaching, playing sports, working out, learning a new language, or reading. I believe it's important that we both feel we’re the right match for one another so I appreciate you taking the time to read through my bio and I hope we connect soon!
