About me

Hi! My name is Sarah McLeod, and I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honors Psychology, English, and Gender and Women’s Studies and a minor in Leadership. I grew up in a small town outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin with my four older siblings. As the youngest, I spent most of my time inside my own imagination, on the soccer field, at my piano, or in a tree reading. Over the past year, I have worked as a full-time nanny in New York City. Now, I am moving to Philadelphia to pursue a graduate degree in Counseling and Mental Health Services.
My initial childcare title was a common one: neighborhood babysitter. At 13, I was thrown into caring for 5-year-old triplets and their brother (8). My natural exposure to these triplets, who couldn’t have been more unique from one another, sparked my desire to learn about the nuances of each child I care for. During the summers of 2019 and 2020, I nannied for two children (3 and 5). In the thick of the pandemic, this childcare experience taught me to be creative and especially patient. I also potty-trained the youngest. In 2021, I cared for a two-year-old child for a few mornings each week and was her date night sitter! I potty-trained, fed, played with, and put down this child for naps. Since 2021, I was a full-time summer nanny for two kids aged 7 and 9. The youngest was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2020, so I have worked alongside the child’s parents, therapists, and coaches to better support him. My duties included driving to/from activities, initiating educational and outdoor activities, scheduling play dates, providing meals, household chores, and pet care. This past year, I provided meals, managed the schedule, and transported two amazing kiddos in Manhattan. Through this experience, I improved my knowledge and teaching of social-emotional learning competencies in order to help these children regulate their emotions during turbulence.
Working with children has been the single most poignant growth experience in my adult life, as they teach me just as much - if not more - than I teach them! I am a warm, intuitive nurturer in all capacities. To be balanced and emotionally resilient, I practice yoga, mindfulness, and intentionality. I am equally passionate about the arts, nature, and the intellectual. If you’re looking for a present, engaged, hard-working, and joyful caregiver, I’m the nanny for you.
