About me

I grew up in Reno, Nevada with my one younger sister. I went to the University of Nevada, Reno, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with minors in Developmental Disabilities and Dance. During my time there, I worked in childcare in many capacities and completed 3 internships. I was able to develop my understanding of children and families and create a foundation of who I am so I can best support new families!
I have worked with families in many capacities for 10 years now. I began as a nanny for one family who I would work for every weekend, I started when their daughter was 8 and worked for them until they moved. I would plan activities for us to do, take her to events in the community, or help with homework. I also worked for College Nannies Sitters+Tutors of Reno where I was an on-call/date-night nanny for families with children ages 0-13 with all ability levels. I have also been a substitute teacher for multiple districts and have learned many behavior management skills but also a lot of fun projects and educational activities! Additionally, I worked for the Boys and Girls Club for about 5 years. I began as a Youth Staff where I was teaching in the classroom and was promoted to a site coordinator shortly after. My main duties included planning activities for families, working with families to combat unwanted behaviors, training staff on developmentally appropriate education, and ensuring that all children were safe. I have education and experience working with children with special needs and a specific knowledge of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Currently, I work as a program coordinator at an after-school program where I supervise staff and children. Additionally, I work as a Disability Inclusion Coordinator for a children's theatre here in NYC and that is my soul job- I get to do what I love every week.
My teaching philosophy is that behaviors communicate needs and as adults, it is our job to listen to the child’s needs. I believe that children deserve adults who treat them with respect and kindness, I achieve this through an authoritative style of engaging with children.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working for a family where I have a connection with the family. Hopefully also still dancing and choreographing children’s theatre.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to dance/theatre and love to share that joy with children. I also love reading and enjoy sharing the wonderful things we can uncover through reading with children. Additionally, with my science degree, I love doing fun STEM or art projects. Through my years in after school programming, I have learned so many exciting and creative activities.
