About me
Originally, I'm from Sarasota, FL, but I moved to Brooklyn, New York when I was four. I'm the baby of my family and have four siblings. Two big brothers and two older sisters. I'm officially a Setter! In other words, I’m attending Pace University and majoring in psychology and human relations. I aim to get my Ph.D. in child and adolescent psychology. This ties into my job now in childcare because when working with kids, you're invited into their homes and lifestyles. You see how they're growing up based on their influences and their character. That's really important-- and it's also important to have them express themselves.
I've been working with children for five years from newborns to teenagers. I started with learning how to make breast milk popsicles and helping with the teething during my high school years. I did a lot of pick-up and meal prep for preschoolers and middle schoolers. In my junior year, I started working for a care company focused on disabled children. I did this for two years and gained more patience, understanding, and of course, more laughter! I learned how to communicate with children on the spectrum who are nonverbal and learned how to operate feeding tube machines. Most importantly, I wanted to remind others they’re just as human as we are. I gained a lot of backbone and grit from working with them, to defend them and make sure they’re not taken advantage of. During quarantine, I had Zoom calls where we’d play online games (preteens-teens), and I taught a 15-year-old how to do makeup, while learning new music from them.
I think that children are the purest, funniest, and most important characters in our lives. We’re so impactful on them and their mindset which is why loving, protecting and caring for them are so important. That’s why I love what I do because I learn something from them as well.
