About me

I’m a native New Yorker; growing up, the parks and museums in the city felt like my own backyard! Consequently, I know all the best spots intimately—from the best climbing tree in Central Park to the animals hiding in the AMNH! As a kid, I loved to explore the unique nooks and crannies of NYC, and that’s something I still enjoy and love sharing with the next generation. This city has so much to offer those who look, and in my experience, no one looks at things in such inventive ways as children.
I’ve always loved art and literature but chose to study philosophy at school. I think a background in philosophy is an asset to any undertaking, including caring for children. I strive to bring that to bear in terms of fostering critical thinking and logic skills. I’m far more interested in teaching children how to think than what to think; if the form is there, the content will follow naturally.
I’ve cared for children professionally for over 10 years and have had the pleasure of staying with each of my families for many years. In my last job, I took care of four children ages 4, 4, 6, and 9 when I began in 2015. I worked full-time until 2021, helping with homework, organizing games, and activities after school, packing lunches, and providing a safe, loving environment that all four thrived in! I provided supervision and assistance for all during the dreaded “remote-learning” phase of Covid, ensuring the children didn’t fall behind while they were out of the classroom. Before that, I cared for a family with two children, ages 3 months and 1.5 years when I began in 2009. I helped create and keep a nap schedule, did bottle feedings and sanitizing, bathed and dressed the children, and engaged in developmentally appropriate, educational games. Later, I helped with potty training, transition to school, and homework.
Working with children has been such a rewarding and happy part of my life. I experience it as a vocation, not “just” a job. Shaping the next generation is important to work, but also one that requires a good sense of humor, and a willingness to laugh at yourself. I try to bring humor, some silliness, and fun to what I consider a meaningful career!
