About me
I am a born and raised New Yorker, and my heart is forever in Queens. I am the oldest of two, and my younger sister is my best friend. My mother is a pediatric nurse, and she has always instilled in me to give endless kindness and patience to the younger generation. As a child who was born and raised in the city, I grew up very in tune with my surroundings, as well as interested and empathetic to people of other cultures, ethnicities, and religions. I am in my last semester at Queens College pursuing a B.A. in Theatre Arts with an Honors minor in Business and Liberal Arts.
I have worked with children of all ages in different environments. I am primarily an educator and tutor, and I love to teach. I first started working with ages 9-16 teaching theatre for about 3 years as both a volunteer and a paid teaching artist. At the camp, I helped children overcome social shyness and taught them how to express themselves through musical theatre. I have also worked in school and after-school environments (ages 3-13) for 3 years through the Samuel Field Y. At these schools, I acted as a mentor for these children and taught activities in writing, dance, stretching, and basic math skills to all ages. At these afterschool programs, I aided in homework help, tackling every subject from every single grade and coming up with strategies to help children learn their material in new ways.
I have paid in-home babysitting experience. Starting in June 2019, I babysat for a family in Queens. This in-home experience taught me so much about childcare. I often picked the child up from school or his summer programs and kept him occupied with enrichment activities like going to the library, playing outside, being active, and learning how to take care of ourselves. Some weekends, I would take him all day and plan playdates or excursions for us while his dad was unavailable. We became really close and I'm so grateful for that experience.
I love working with children because they are the future! I am also community-oriented which is why providing an enriching environment for children is my number one priority! I have endless patience for children because they deserve kindness.
