About me

My name is Mariama. I am from West Africa (Guinea). I moved to New York 9 years ago. I have an Associate Degree in Accounting and I am currently completing my bachelor’s degree in Finance at Baruch College. I speak fluently French. I have been babysitting for as long as I can remember. Being born into a family of eleven children, I have 5 younger siblings I helped my parents care for. When I was younger, our mother would travel back and forth for years at the times, and I was in charge of my younger siblings. That experience prepared me for the Nanny job. It made me grow up fast and have a sense of responsibility. I learned to be patient, selfless, nurturing and I became a better listener. So naturally when I moved to New York 9 years ago, being a nanny was my first choice. I get to be with little humans I absolutely adore. I can be silly, creative and have fun with them without judgement.
As a nanny, I like to plan outdoor activities with children. For instance, taking the kids out to the park to play water games I find that all age groups enjoy tossing water at each other. when it's cooler, we stay away from water and just stick to hide and seek and run after each other. I like to keep the kids busy and often encourage them to play with other children because I think it is extremely important for kids to socialize with children their age to make new friends and enhance their psychosocial development. In addition to the park, going to museums, taking long walks and organizing play dates with their friends are things I like to do outdoor. For indoor activities, I like to organize Board games, readings and writings activities. We often do arts and crafts; we cook simple recipes and bake cupcakes, kids love baking and helping prep their lunch or dinner. I am very good at adapting with different parenting styles. I don't mind helping around the house sometimes. I am looking for a great family I can be a part of as an extension of the parents.
My goal as a childcare provider is to help raise exceptionally talented, honest and respectful children that will make a difference in the world and change the future for better.
