About me

I grew up between a beach town in the Dominican Republic and Harlem. I am an only child, but I grew up with all of my cousins. It never felt like I was an only child!  I enjoyed going to the beach with my grandparents as a child.
I received my A.S. In Early Childhood Education from the Borough of Manhattan Community College. I am pursuing my B.S. in Early Childhood Education with a special education concentration from the City College of New York. Since obtaining my Associate's, I became a head teacher in a toddler classroom for Bright Horizons. I taught for two years and then became a full-time nanny.
I’ve been working with children for 7 years now. I started working with children in a daycare setting. When I was a teacher at Bright Horizons, I met the first family I worked for full time. I also met other families that I do occasional babysitting for. The first family I worked for, I started when the oldest was 2 years and 7 months and the youngest was 3 months old.  When I ended, she was 3 years and 7 months old and he was 1 year and 3 months old. My responsibility was to ensure the safety and happiness of the children. I would take the oldest to school and pick her up, bring her to play dates, and ballet class. I would take the baby to music class, prep his bottles, feed him, and change his diaper. When he started having solids, I would prepare his lunch along with his sister. I would also take them to Central Park zoo once or twice a week. I would take them to the park every day. At home, we would read, sing, and do math, art, and science activities. We would also play with blocks and pretend to play in their kitchen area. For another family, I started as their date night/ weekend sitter, when the girl was 1 years old. Now she is 7 years old and has a baby sister that is 5 years old and a baby brother that is 3 years old! I still watch them occasionally. We play in the backyard, I’ll prepare their lunch or dinner, and we play with blocks, legos, trucks, and Barbies. I've been a teacher, Spanish tutor, nanny, and date night sitter. I am bilingual (fluent in Spanish) , I am CPR certified, and I also know baby sign language.
In my free time, I love to read, explore new museums, go to the zoo, and aquarium, and bake. When I’m not home relaxing, I am either babysitting or spending time with my baby cousins. I love when I can come to work on Monday and share with the kids what I did on the weekend. If I went to the zoo, we talk about the different animals I saw and they share what their favorite animal is. Taking care of my cousins was my motivation for working with kids, I always loved taking care of them, doing art projects, and coming together to build the coolest house using legos. I like to ensure safety and happiness and seeing them have a great time always puts a smile on my face.
I am a very nurturing and caring person. My philosophy is that every child is different, I like to give them the freedom to explore their creativity and it’s okay to make mistakes because we grow from it. I am all about positive reinforcement and getting at their level to understand them.
