About me

My name is Christina Logan. I was born in the Bronx, New York. I was raised by my aunt. She has two daughters who I consider my sisters. I am the oldest of the three of us. I had a very fun well-rounded upbringing. I have always been a very active person. Growing up I enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, writing music, nature and dance class. I graduated from Holcombe L. Rucker school of community research in 2010. While in high school I signed up for the summer youth program where I received my first job in child care. Shortly after graduating high school, I pursued my associates degree in early childhood education at Borough of Manhattan Community College. I ended up taking a long break from school. I recently returned to school. Now I am graduating this summer and plan to start my journey this fall to obtain a B.A degree.
I have worked in child care for 12 years. I have experience working with infants, toddlers and school age children. I was required to do an internship for school and was placed at Mother Hale Learning Center. I was so grateful the director gave me the opportunity to work there. I started in the infant room. There I learned how important it is to be engaged and active when working with children. We had a daily schedule which included feeding, diaper change, and circle time. Circle time included singing songs and reading books to the infants. We did many sensory and art activities with the children and tummy time. Every so often we were given the opportunity to work in a different room. I was able to work with many different age ranges and the routines were similar only in the other classes we promoted children to be independent. We encouraged the children to clean up after themselves, dress themselves, etc.
For the past 5 years I worked in Early Head Start as an assistant teacher in a 3k classroom. It was a really great experience. I loved all the events we did with the children throughout the year. Currently I am a home visitor for the Early Head Start homebase program. I provide parents learning activities that children would typically learn in a childcare setting. We teach them how to use things from their home.
Some things I love to do are singing and arts and crafts. I love to go outdoors to nice parks. I love to socialize and learn new things. Working in child care has allowed me to stay creative and think of fun, innovative ways to engage and inspire children. I am a big believer that children learn through play. Children learn through having a safe environment and having people around who makes them feel safe to explore.
