About me

I have been caring for kids from a very young as I am an older sister to two younger siblings. We grew up in the city of Cape Town surrounded by mountains that had a beach within walking distance so we had the best of both worlds. As I child I was an avid reader and had many pets, who I loved and cared for many years. I have always known that my studies and life's work would involve assisting people so I went of to university to study Psychology. I completed both my undergraduate and post graduate degrees at the University of South Africa.

I have cared for children from infancy up until the teenage years. I have been a babysitter, nanny, teachers aide, overnight sitter and language teacher, as well as caring for children when their parents were both out of town. My experience includes assisting with diapering, feeding of bottles, bathing, bedtime for infants. I have taken children to all sorts of activities all over NYC. This includes classes, Dr's appointments, playgrounds, playgroups as well as zoos. I enjoy teaching children so most of my charges have been reared using the Montessori method which I have experience in. I have also made sure to spend time reading and helping children socialize by taking them out as mush as possible. I am Covid vaccinated and boosted. My current CPR and First aid training is up to date as well.

I chose to pursue my degree in Psychology and especially wanted to focus on child development. I grew up in a household where both my sister and I were natural students. But, we had a brother who did not do well in school and struggled from a young age and who because of his learning difficulties had a hard time adapting. I teach and care for children because all children have a right to grow and develop at their pace and have a cheerleader who sees and believes the best of them.
