About me
Hi! My name is Maggie Joy. I grew up in Dallas, TX (with a short year spent in London in middle school!), and have been living in New York for 6 years now! As a child, I quickly discovered my love of dance and art which has guided most of my life. I moved to New York to go to NYU Tisch, and graduated in 2019 with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Psychology. Since graduation, I've been working as a freelance dancer and dance teacher. I also work at an arts non profit, managing and curating performances as well as aiding in managing our studio and performance spaces. My love for arts and active lifestyle has heavily influenced my work as a nanny. I'm very organized, reliable, and committed to any and all of the work I do!
I've been working with children for 10+ years -- starting in high school as both a teacher's assistant at the dance studio I attended and as a babysitter for many families in my neighborhood. I've worked with kids from 1 to 12 years old, and up to 4 at a time (plus pets!). My most recent position is with 2 children as an after-school caretaker. When I started working with them, I helped with the older child's remote kindergarten. Now, I care for both the older and their younger child (now 1.5), assisting with care, pick ups and drop offs for activities, dinner and general playtime. In addition, I've worked with many other families ranging in age and duties but including things such as traveling on bike/subway to activities, taking them to appointments, supervising playdates, bedtime routines, running light errands, walking and caring for pets, etc. I also teach dance classes at various dance studios in the city for people aged 10 all the way up to collegiate and professional dancers!
As an artist, I love encouraging the imaginative and artistic sides of the children I work with -- and I do not shy away from active games! I find child care a very important position to hold, and it's one I do not take lightly. Being a role model for the children I work with is something I strive to do!
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers

In 5 years, I hope to be...
performing and touring with more dance companies and being engaged in arts leadership positions!
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
dance, cooking (making pizzas together is my favorite!), arts and crafts!
