About me

I was born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana which is just outside of New Orleans. I grew up with three siblings which made family time fun. I have two younger siblings and one older sibling. Growing up I had such a big hand in helping to raise the little ones. This is where I really found my passion for childcare. Being a naturally empathetic and nurturing person, taking care of my siblings was where I was the happiest. I loved watching them learn and it was always exciting to teach them new things. I decided 7 years ago that I outgrew my hometown and, I made the big move to New York which was the best decision I could have made. It's fostered my curiosity for culture and diversity while still allowing me to be close to some family.

I have 12 years of experience working with children ranging from newborns to 12 years old. Since living in New York, I have had the privilege of working with and building meaningful relationships with these families. My responsibilities varied based on the needs of the families which included, but were not limited to, meal preparation, child development (teaching sign language, encouraging manners), ensuring clear communication with parents, cultivating a safe and loving environment, and of course, making sure to have fun (dance parties, making tents, art projects for season changes and holidays, playing games, etc). In addition, to help to support the child's development, I'm also proud to have forged lasting bonds and relationships with past families. It's important that the family trusts me and values my knowledge learned from years of experience. When starting with a new family my intention is to create a meaningful relationship. Having these meaningful experiences at my job will only make me a better nanny.

Overall, my approach to childcare is a healthy balance of boundaries while still having fun. I am of the mindset that children should be encouraged to be a child; nurture their innocence but incorporating a healthy amount of boundaries is preparing them for real-world experiences.
