About me

I grew up in the Appalachian foothills of Georgia, the youngest of five children. My days were spent exploring our pine forest backyard and writing short novels. I loved singing, and after finishing top of my class in high school, I attended Tulane University of New Orleans and graduated cum laude with my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre (minor in Italian). Since moving to New York, I’ve dipped my toe in several fields, most notably acting, sewing, wig styling, and now fronting a rock band. My creativity shines in my relationships with children. Imagination-based play, sing-a-longs, sewing costumes together, art projects—these are the sort of activities you can expect from me regularly!

I first started babysitting as a teen, which gives me seventeen years’ experience with children—the past eight of which have been in New York. I’ve cared for infants, toddlers, and school-aged kids. My time as a caregiver in NYC has been primarily spent with two families, both of which had children aged 5 and 8 when I was first hired. My responsibilities during the school year were typical after-school care: picking the kids up, escorting them to activities, helping with homework, and preparing dinner, with the occasional bedtime as well. In the summers, my schedule was more full time: taking the children swimming, having water balloon battle royales in the park, making sidewalk chalk masterpieces, writing songs together, and more! I am classically trained and enjoy tutoring fledgling musicians, or teaching basic ballet, even beginner Italian. I love cooking multicultural cuisine. I’ve even hosted a regular Dungeons & Dragons game for kids over the past year.

Do you remember how intense your feelings were as a child? Every experience is a new one for children; sometimes their feelings take over their entire being. I believe that a child must never be shamed for the way they feel. You must sit with them in patience and understanding, and if you do this well, you'll raise an adult who is comfortable sharing their true self with you, which is the most beautiful gift of all. I've found that a little silliness goes a long way, too, and I've got that in spades!
