About me

I am the oldest of two children. I grew up in Miami, Florida with my parents and my grandmother (a total treat). I had a very active childhood. My parents enrolled me in all kinds of activities: piano lessons, dance, soccer, tennis, swimming, and gymnastics. Not all of them stuck, but I played the piano into adulthood! I was always deeply fascinated and attracted to the arts. I excelled as a student and was offered a full scholarship to Florida International University (FIU), where I was invited to be a student of their Honors College and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and a minor in art history. While at FIU, I applied and was selected to participate in the school's student exchange program, which took me to spend a year in Barcelona, Spain at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona/Escola Massana. After finishing my studies in Miami, I moved to Chicago to pursue my Master of Fine Arts in Writing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I graduated in 2019 and returned to Miami to work as Youth Programs Coordinator at a major museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.

I have been working with children ages 2-14 for nearly a decade in a number of different capacities. I have worked as a poetry teacher in a traditional classroom setting, and as a counselor at an interdisciplinary arts and sports camp. I have also worked as a Red Cross certified swimming instructor, offering both group classes and one-on-one instruction, to children as young as three. From working as an elementary school tutor to taking care of a six-month-old while on the set of a commercial to overseeing family day events at a cultural institution for over a year, to just being an older sister: I know children. I've done snacks, prepped meals, changed diapers, provided college guidance, organized plays, and dances, and field trips. In playtime, there is music, dance, art, sport, and plenty of imagination.

I am passionate about working with children because children are the future. Showing children guidance, boundaries, empathy, and care is imperative in their collective development. Childcare and education is the labor of raising a generation.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I am passionate about the arts (poetry, creative writing, theatre, dance, music, painting, you name it). I've taught all of these to children ages 4-18. I can, however, offer: 1) Spanish lessons (I am a native speaker, can read and write) 2) Tutoring (all subjects, K-8. select 9-12) 3) Piano lessons (for beginner and intermediate) 4) Painting lessons 5) ETC: I have developed interdisciplinary, art-centered curricula. I would be happy to plan daily educational activities for myself and your child!
