About me

I grew up in Northern Virginia, outside of Washington DC. I was raised by my mother along with my younger sister. My mother is a Special Education Teacher, and her love for her work is what inspired me to join the realm of childcare as I grew up! As children, my sister and I loved to play outside and explore. We had large imaginations and loved to read, incorporating storytelling into much of what we played. Some of my favorite memories growing up are reading with my sister, and bringing that magic to life in the world around us!
Through high school, I helped out neighborhood families by babysitting on weekends and after school. In my junior year, my school offered an elective course providing free preschool to local families, which I took for two years. After school, I worked as a teacher assistant at a local daycare, primarily with tots and twos! In 2017, I moved to Richmond to pursue a Master’s degree in Teaching Elementary Education. Throughout college, I provided part-time care for a variety of families. My longest position was from 2019 to 2021, where I cared for a 3 year old, 6-year-old, and helped the family welcome a new baby towards the end of my position. My responsibilities with this family typically included meal preparation, playtime, bedtime routines, and transporting the children to activities, such as parks, museums, and libraries! I also helped facilitate the oldest daughter with her virtual learning and offered her tutoring during the pandemic. The two other families included a family of four boys with twin infants and a family with one toddler. In December of 2021, I graduated with my Master’s and began teaching first grade in Henrico County Virginia.
I have always loved working with children because of the lens through which they see the world. Children find small joys in what sometimes as adults we can forget. I believe that as we teach children, we learn from them too! In my approach, I value providing reason and respect, with the gentleness that all children deserve. Children are our future, and it is important to acknowledge that importance and nurture their growth to help them become the best versions of themselves.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love making art with children, and letting them explore their creativity to the fullest- I am not afraid to get messy! I also love to teach children an appreciation for their environment through outdoor exploration, and their art projects.
