About me

Hi! My name is Rebecca Simone Anthony! I'm an NYC native, Georgetown University graduate, and a multi-passionate creative life force. As a child, I enjoyed pouring my time into any and all creative endeavors I could manage. Knitting, sewing, playing musical instruments, writing stories, and getting lost in any book I could find.

As an adult, not much has changed. I am constantly thinking about creating art - whether it's projects I'm currently working on (I just finished illustrating my own tarot deck!), or projects I hope to embark on in the future.

I've worked with children for the better half of 15 years. I have experience with kids ranging in ages from 2 - 10 years old, as well as kids with Down Syndrome. At Georgetown, I worked for 2 years as a team leader for the Americorps Jumpstart program, in which I helped prepare preschoolers from under-resourced areas for kindergarten.

Upon graduating from Georgetown with a degree in Studio Art and a minor in Mathematics, I secured a multi-year job nannying for a prominent TriBeCa family, while also pursuing my career as an artist. My responsibilities included picking the kids up from school, running errands for the family, household chores, homework help, taking kids to after school activities, making & assisting with dinner, overnight care, walking the dog, coming up with fun and stimulating activities, and the occasional out of state travel.

I believe all children are artists, and I am extremely passionate about encouraging children to explore their own creative passions at a young age. Working with children is something I cherish, because what's more important than raising the next generation?

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Continuing doing what I love - working with children, making art, going on adventures, and brightening the days of the people around me :)

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love teaching children how to express themselves creatively - including teaching them how to knit, teaching them how to use Adobe Illustrator to make digital art, any and every art & craft project you can think of, building forts and structures out of cardboard boxes and blocks, and doing daily crosswords and sudoku - because building the logical brain is important too :)
