About me

I grew up in Waterloo, IA as the oldest siblings of four girls. My childhood home was full of life and there was never a dull moment. My siblings and I were always a creative bunch, loving to sing, dance, draw, and interact in very imaginative play. I recently graduated from the University of Iowa (08/2021) with a degree in Liberal Studies on the Organizational track (i.e. business) and also received certificates for Event and Entrepreneurial Management. Since graduating, I have moved to NYC with my husband and I have been in search of life-fulfilling work and new experiences!

I have worked with children professionally for over 5 years. I worked as a live-in nanny in the summer of 2018 for a family in Illinois with two children, a 6 mo. old and a 6-year-old. During my time with that family, I provided tools and resources for children to use and explore during summer learning and play activities. I also performed various small housekeeping tasks. From 2019 to 2021 I worked as a preschool teacher with children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years old, as well as there being a before and after school program for children ages 6 to 11 years old. I worked primarily with infants, newborns to 18 months old. I provided tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities. I managed activities including lessons, play, breaks, and meals and established rules of behavior for the children. We read books, did art projects, had recess, practiced colors, numbers, and sign language. During my time as a teacher, I received essential child care certification as well as continuous certification for first aid and CPR. While I was a teacher I developed many wonderful relationships with the families and went on to babysit for them outside of classroom hours.

I am a warm, patient, and kind individual. I love working with children and I have witnessed how my teaching and caregiving have directly impacted children and assisted them in reaching new milestones. Working with kids has made me a better/happier person.
