About me

Hi, I'm Jonalee! Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I am the eldest of five siblings and I grew up being the designated babysitter of the family as I was always taking care of the babies and children. Being a caregiver is something that started young and has carried into my adult life.

Back in 2017, I started my professional nanny career working with a family’s infant son until he was a toddler. I would spend the day changing diapers, fixing bottles and meals, going for walks, reading, and supervising playtime at home. I would also occasionally help their grade school-aged son with homework and share and practice new methods of studying. Fast forward to 2021, I started a Teacher’s Assistant position. As an Assistant Teacher, it was my duty to care for 7 to 12 infants per day. Throughout the day it was my job to manage each infant's individual schedules, prepare formula bottles and warm breast milk, conduct five to six rounds of diaper changes, create craft projects and creative activities that help build their development, go on afternoon walks to the park and also help parents figure out the best schedule for their infants to carry on into home life. As an Assistant Teacher, I am also obligated to take over as a Teacher and help with lesson plans and parent-teacher conferences when the Lead Teacher isn’t there, which during the pandemic could happen for weeks at a time. I have also floated around to other toddler and 3K/4K classrooms to cover as a Teacher when needed.

In my free time, I love drawing and crafts, reading books, playing video games, and hanging out with my dog. My calm, patient but also playful personality is a big help when it comes to being a caregiver because it allows me to be relatable and comforting when taking care of kids. Children always need another loving adult outside of their parents as a companion to give a different perspective and I believe all of my experiences have created a safe and guided space for kids to evolve and grow into the productive and unique children they are meant to be.
