About me

Hi! My name is Megan McCarthy. I was born and raised in Orange County in Southern California and grew up with two loving parents and a younger brother. From an early age, I loved to sing, act and dance. I grew up singing in my church's choir and was involved in theatre and choir all throughout school. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.F.A in Musical Theatre and began performing professionally in shows all throughout Southern California. I also worked at Disneyland for over six years and worked as a cantor and section leader at my church as well. My love of music and storytelling, my work with children at Disneyland, and my creativity have all furthered my love and joy for child care and babysitting.

I have been babysitting and caring for children since I was thirteen years old, and worked exclusively with three families in the last couple of years. I have worked with as young as eleven months and as old as thirteen years old. I've watched as many as three children at a time babysitting at home and as many as seven at a time while babysitting at the beach. I have lots of experience in changing diapers, warming bottles, and feeding. I have worked as a tutor for a first-grader, helping her navigate her online schoolwork and assisting with reinforcing lessons and concepts taught in her class. I also worked with a family where I picked up their children from home or daycare and took them to and from after-school activities.

Throughout my part-time work as a babysitter, I have incorporated my sense of creativity that I cultivated theatre in playtime with children, whether I'm reading them a story, creating a new game with their toys or playing pretend. Children are so funny, honest, and kind, and I love getting to see children grow more and more into themselves. I'm always a big believer in the power of compassion, and I believe that if we act as examples of kindness and compassion, we can inspire the next generation to be empathetic towards others. Working with children has been such a defining and influential part of my life, and it brings me to joy knowing that hopefully I have created a positive impact in a child's life as well.
