About me

I am from the small town of Cochranville, Pennsylvania. As a young child, I loved to sing, play the piano, read, and do karate. I also really enjoyed doing my schoolwork. Because of my love of music, I went on to earn my Associate's degree in Musical Theater Performance at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. I graduated in 2020, however, and all theaters were closed, so I used my time in quarantine to return to Pennsylvania and earn an additional Associates in Liberal Arts. In that time I also began teaching voice lessons at Richard's Rock Academy and became an assistant teacher in the YMCA's early learning center and preschool.
As the oldest of three girls, I was responsible for my sisters growing up. I was nine years old when my youngest sister was born, so I learned how to change diapers, prepare formula, make food, and even took CPR training courses and became a certified sitter. From that point on, I volunteered in teaching and childcare at my karate gym and various local churches. Through my volunteer work, I was approached by parents who wanted to know if I taught voice lessons. My first ever student was an eight-year-old girl who couldn't afford professional lessons, so I charged 8 dollars a week total for a piano and a voice lesson. From there, I amassed a small group of students who I taught out of my home and continued to teach until I left for college in 2018, ranging from ages five to fifteen. Currently, I am a voice teacher at Richard's Rock Academy and my students range from 7 to 17. Before I moved I taught in-person lessons every Monday, but I currently teach on zoom. Each week I teach new vocal warm-ups and help my kids workshop songs they want to sing and teach them a new song they have not heard. I have at-home babysitting experience from 2012 to the present and have worked with children from infants to sixteen years of age. From 2014 to January of 2022, I was a frequent babysitter for a family with a four-year-old girl with special needs, now twelve, and a family with an eleven and a one-year-old boy, now seventeen and seven. My duties have included preparing food and snacks, changing diapers, coming up with games and activities, helping with homework and chores, bathing, and putting children to bed. In 2019, I worked as a YMCA theater camp counselor. I was typically in charge of groups of 20-30 children and guided them through the camp day, teaching them singing, dancing, and acting. I supervised lunch and swim time (which often meant getting in the pool with them), and created props, costumes, sets, scripts, and whatever else we needed for performances. In 2020 I was an assistant teacher in the YMCA Early Learning Center and the preschool. In the Learning Center, I was responsible for a class of thirteen first and second graders. My duties included getting all of the children set up for each zoom call, keeping track of each child's schedule, supervising lunch, snack, and recess, tutoring children when they needed extra help, communicating with parents and teachers about their progress, disinfecting everything according to CDC guidelines, and ensuring the children were also following CDC guidelines. As the program grew, I worked with classes from kindergarten through sixth grade. Working in the preschool, I cared for infants through pre-k children. I guided early learning curriculum and activities and supervised the classroom throughout the day, prepared and supervised lunch and snack time, ensured safe playground trips, and put the children down for naps. With the infants and toddlers, I also changed diapers and prepared bottles.
My greatest love outside of childcare has always been music.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach children how to sing. I have 16 years of vocal training and I can teach pop, rock, jazz, blues, country, musical theater, R&B, and folk. I also like to teach acting, beginner piano, acting, music theory, and karate (since I have my black belt). I have experience teaching all of these things in professional settings. Out of all the skills I like to share with children I work with, the one that excites them most without fail is making pipe cleaner penguins.
