About me
I grew up in a rural/suburban area of New Jersey called Vernon with my mother, father, and 2 older brothers. Throughout my childhood, I would share experiences with many people older than me that would spark my love for a myriad of creative arts. Films, theater, wrestling, games, music, stand-up, etc. all became my passions that continue to inspire me to this day. In-between studying all these art forms, you would typically find me running around our backyards/town fields playing whatever sport we could find the ball for that day (normally football which I played until 8th grade). Fully delving into theater in high school, I went to NYC to attend the American Musical & Dramatics Academy to study musical theater. After completing their conservatory program, I accepted a job at Disney Cruise Line as a performer. For an entire year, I sailed around North America while creating magic and core memories for children every day. My contract ended 2 months before the pandemic hit, so I returned home to take care of my mother and assisted a family by watching their child on school days. I’ve since returned to NYC to continue pursuing my passions.
Luckily for me, one of my passions is working with children. I’ve been babysitting since high school and have continued to do so in some capacity my whole life since. Date night sitter, weekend watcher, whole vacations, etc. were very common for me. Typically working with children between the ages of 5 and 10; my usual responsibilities would be to help with homework, log into school on time if online, make/get food, keep things entertaining with games/playtime, and help them get ready for bed, clean up after, etc. As for my time with Disney, there were shifts where you would assist a character and help them interact with the guests/children. These are times I will cherish forever as they afforded me the opportunity to really see a child’s imagination run free while I also kept a watchful eye to make sure everyone was safe while doing so. My most consistent position was over the past year and a half where I worked with a child who was 8 years old on school days. This long-form bond is special to me as I adored watching him grow to find his own interests and share them with me.
The crux of what I find so rewarding about working with children is just listening to them. I believe children are the only ones who can truly view the world simply and are underestimated in terms of what they have to offer. In turn, they also have so much left to experience and discover. One of my life goals is to continue igniting sparks in the youth to inspire the coming generations to be themselves and keep on working towards what they love like others have aided me with. Whether that be developing a particular sense of humor, seeing them come alive at a sports event, drawing their first character, etc. seeing them experience these moments is always rewarding. My main vision is to continue interacting with kids to help them discover more of the world while they share with me what they love the most.
