About me

Born in Oahu Hawaii, raised between the islands and California I have a wide-based of knowledge of the two. Surfing, horses, and reading were just a few of the hobbies I enjoy doing growing up. Animals have always been a love of mine and I would spend time volunteering at animal shelters or at the docks on the island gathering netting to save the sea life. If I wasn't running around outside I was in the kitchen with my grandmother. Being the second to youngest out of 7 children I spent most of my time with my grandmother and from her I fell in love with food and cooking because everything and everyone came together over a good meal. The skills and techniques I learned from her in the kitchen will always be one of my biggest accomplishments. Besides mastering cooking, I graduated high school from Antelope Valley High in Lancaster California. After high school, I took a year to travel and eat my way through Europe with my grandmother. I then attended Mud in Burbank California and graduated with my Avant-Gard degree in high fashion make-up. After graduation, I was doing bridal, and print make-up. My make-up artistry took me to Paris and New York working runway shows. Having an amazing time traveling for work I made it a priority to keep doing so once a year. I have had the privilege to travel to the most beautiful countries and experience the most wonderful cultures. My traveling also took me to see my two sisters who are in the army. One trip in particular to my eldest sister is when everything changed and I then first discovered my talent with kids when I took sole custody of my three nieces and nephew for about a year and a half. My older sister is a marine and duty-called. Being extremely family-oriented I stepped up to the plate. In that year and half I completely dedicated my life and schedule to them. From there my nannying career started.

It's been 10 years now I have been working with children on and off the spectrum, with special needs ( down syndrome seizure prone), or with food allergies and special diets. Ranging from ages newborn to 7 years old.
I have worked with five families full-time long term. With two full-time working parents, I was responsible for the children full time and all the daily duties. I have touched countless families picking up side gigs with hotels, date nights, weekend care, and holiday covers. Traveling with families or staying home with the kids while mom and dad travel is all in my experience as well. Some of my full-time positions have also crossed over to family assisting which gave me experience planning birthday parties, scheduling doctor appointments, organizing house maintenance, and pet care.
Starting positions with a newborn and ending the position with the child being 2 years old, I have experience in changing diapers, bottle feedings with formula and breast milk, warming breast milk, introducing a new food, pureeing baby food, food prep, sleep training, tummy time, mind developing activities, and sign language.
Starting with a 2-year-old child ending the position when the child is 4 years old, I have experience potty training, being creative with arts and crafts, playing cars superheroes dolls and dress up, reading, getting outdoor time whether it's at the beach or park, enforcing a sleep schedule, meal prep to all different types of diets, getting them to activities, and scheduling time for mind development activities.
Starting a position with a 5-year-olds ending the position when they were 8 years old, I have experience with school drop off and pick up, getting them to after school activities, homework, baking, organizing playdates, and being responsible for 9 kids at a time for after school and weekend gatherings.
When it comes to bad behaviors keeping calm and being consistent are keys I find work best. A tone of communication and a little extra love and praise are my tools to discipline. Patience, manners, kindness, cleanliness, and punctuality are just a few of the skills I have acquired and learned necessary. Quick on my feet, a master at multitasking I can adapt to any situation quickly and panic-free. Communication is the key to everything. With communication, I will always respect the rules and guidelines as per your wishes to help raise and care for children.

I relocated to Brooklyn from Los Angles five months ago, and have been loving every minute of it. I am excited to continue my child care profession here in New York, to grow and learn different skills and knowledge to better my techniques in child care. I love the fact that with every family and child I work with I learn something new each and every time. That too is another reason I love this field of work because there is always something new to learn, little tricks of the trade. I approach child care with different skills depending on the child. I believe in creating a positive environment supportive of the individual's positive development. Wellbeing, active learning, identity, and real-life experience are everyday practices I do and like to incorporate into my work. Being part of a family's life for a period of time sharing my technique and love for children to help raise this next generation with love, manners, knowledge, and aspiration are all I want to be able to give back in my career.
