About me

My name is Belen, and I'm from Washington state in the great pacific northwest! I'm the oldest child in my family and grew up watching and caring for my younger brother. As a child I loved art, music, and being outdoors, and these passions are still going strong. Currently, I'm traveling abroad full time and working travel nanny gigs as I go. I'm hoping to come back to the states soon and find a more permanent position with lots of travel and adventure involved.

In June 2019, I took on my first caregiving job as a nanny for a 1 year old. My duties at this job included providing him with lots of opportunity for play and outdoor recreation, feeding him healthy meals, helping him nap, and changing his diapers. Shortly after this I moved to Chicago and began working at daycare. At this job I was in charge of caring for kids from 4mo-4yrs. My tasks here consisted of feeding infants, feeding lunch and snacks to the toddlers, leading lessons and activities, and cleaning up after them.
After this job, I was hired as a nanny for a three year old child. I was given lots of freedom in this job and was expected to find activities to fill up our days. We spent our time going to music classes, visiting the zoo, going to museums, and much more. When we weren’t able to leave the house, I was in charge of coming up with engaging and fun activities for us to do together. At this job, I was also trusted with the family car and with driving him to different activities around the city. After this position ended, I trained as a Postpartum doula and spent 6 months serving families and their newborns around the city. I ended up leaving Chicago after 2 years to go traveling and have been abroad for the past year exploring and learning about new cultures and countries. During my time abroad I have done a couple nanny gigs including a trip to Santiago in Chile and a trip to Busan in South Korea. On these trips I helped support the family I was traveling with and provided child care while the parents were working.

Early childhood is such an important time for a kid and being able to guide them through the ups and downs of life is very rewarding work! I believe every child is a unique individual with different strengths and talents that should be fostered, and a voice and individuality that should be respected. I am here to help your child learn, grow, and most importantly, have FUN!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope I’m still working as a childcare provider in some capacity and also working in the music industry.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

On top of being a visual artist I also play music, and these are both things I love to share with the kids I work with! Whether it be through dancing, making art together or through teaching them an instrument.
