About me

Hi! My name is Heather Rankine. I grew up in Darien, Connecticut, and love this area. I grew up very close with my family - I have one twin sister and one older brother. I loved spending time with my family, sports, theatre, and art as a child, and still continue many of those passions today. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science from the University of Vermont in 2018. Since graduation, I've worked as a Lead Preschool teacher from 2018 to 2020. In 2021, I traveled to Spain as an Au Pair where I lived with a family of four and strengthened my language skills. I've been nannying either part-time or full-time since 2016. All of my experiences have helped me become a very compassionate, professional, and dependable nanny. I truly believe that every experience affects a child's outcome, and I aim to provide the highest level of care to the children I work with. It is very touching for me to be invited into someone's intimate family life, and I try to treat every child with the same care as I would my own family.

For the past five years as a professional nanny, I have worked with families with a wide variety of needs. I have worked with newborns, infants, and every age from 4-10. I have experience working with kids with a higher level of need, specifically children in the Foster Care System, and a child with a physical disability. I have worked with families of up to three children, and families with multiples, including infant twins. I worked as a live-in nanny and was responsible for their education during the pandemic. Overall, my nanny responsibilities have included, but not limited to - preparing meals and snacks, picking up/dropping off from school, fostering relationships between home and school, maintaining the child's schedule (including extracurriculars and homework), changing diapers, daily walks to the park with multiple children, light housework, pet care, and most importantly - engaging children with play, consistency, and emotional support. My approach to childcare is colored by my previous experiences and my education. I'm a very 'hands-on' nanny, and I aim to provide comfort and consistency to the entire family.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

During my time as a preschool teacher, I planned many activities for the kids through our curriculum. I love working with kids because everything is so exciting and new for them. My favorite activities were science related, and allowed the kids to ask questions. I also love to read books with children, and create make believe games. It's amazing to see their creativity, and smiling faces when I play along with their games, or interests.
