About me

I was born in Trinidad & Tobago but moved to the USA at the age of 10. I have two siblings, one brother and one sister. I fell in love with caring for people at the age of 7 because I had to take care of my grandmother. I enjoy playing video games, playing the sport Rugby, listening to music, and cooking. I graduated from High School in Brooklyn, NY and moved on to college where I obtain my Associate degree in Mental Health Domestic Violence. Two years after I was enrolled into another college which I graduated with my bachelor’s degree of Science in Social Work. Since graduation I’ve been working in a school with children with disabilities.
I’ve been working with children for almost 9 years. The age ranges of the children I’ve worked with are from infants to pre-teen. My responsibilities were to supervise 7 toddlers daily during the school hours, from 9-2pm. I ensured they were safe active cared for and fed on schedule. Created more than 100 activities for children to encourage their development improve their skill sets and aid in social and behavioral development. Implemented activities and documented each child’s progress achieved during the activities. Coordinated site supplies including requisitioning receiving and tracking all stock needed to efficiently operate the center. For the infants I would change their diapers, fix a warm bottle of milk, make lunch, or give baby food, help do movements of the floor, and play with soft toys. I would make documentation of important information to update parents about their child’s day. Lastly for the pre-teens I would be responsible for helping with their school and preparing snacks of a meal for the teens.
I have been a counselor at YMCA sleep away summer camp. My responsibilities were to make sure all the girls were up and ready every morning by 8AM Sharp. I make sure they had all supplies that were needed, meals were prepared and brought to the cabin, and make sure everyone was safe. I also had my own private babysitting for many years, it was part-time, weekends and special occasions basis. However, I mainly coordinated care of 5 children daily at my home. I utilized my education and experience in child development to design approximately 20 individual and group age-appropriate activities during the week. I also tracked children’s progress and communicated daily with parents. Ensured maintaining sanitary and safe standards, including scheduling 20 routine cleanings, and conducting daily toy sanitizing and performing monthly safety checks and advised and coached parents on strategies to encourage their child’s healthy development.
I am CPR and First Aid Kit certified. I am computer proficiency in Microsoft. I am certificate in Food Protection by NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and certificate by NYC Fire Department- F02 Fitness license. I am currently learning and practicing on sign language. I almost do have experiences in special needs children, and I am also currently working on obtaining my certification in how to de-escalate situations with special needs children.
