About me

As a New York native from a large family (so many cousins!!) it has always been in my nature to care for younger children. Growing up, all of the children on my street would come by my house and want to play with myself and my cousins (regardless of age) because they knew it would be a fun time. This was the beginning of my pursuit of a career in childcare. When I became a teenager I started babysitting for local children and family members all the time and built a great rapport with them. In college I was a psychology major and during that time I learned about the stages of development and knew that I wanted to work with children. Upon graduating I began my first full time role as an assistant toddler teacher where I was able to pursue my dream daily.

I have over 5 years of professional childcare experience and have worked as a preschool teacher (Infants/Toddlers) and a nanny (Preschool and early school aged), both very fun and rewarding experiences. During my time as a nanny I was able to use the skills learned as an early educator to teach the child in my care. I started working with the family when the child turned 3 years old and before his fourth birthday he was fully potty trained, able to read, write and spell 3-4 letter words, his first and last name, counting, amongst other skills. It was a truly rewarding experience. By the time he was in kindergarten, he was one of the only children in his class able to read! My favorite part about caring for children is being able to see them fully embrace their environment through play and exploration.

Some activities I enjoy include reading, taking long walks or exploring, and music. These are all activities that I am able to share with children I care for as they are great learning tools for budding minds.

I'd like to have a family of my own by then but also to continue to further my career in supporting young children and their families as they learn and grow.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Reading and any early learning skills. I try to make learning as fun as possible for young children so anything from teaching them to count through a silly song or using anything in the environment to teach new skills (ie: stop signs are the shape of an octagon).
