About me

My name is Cris Arias I’m 25 years old, I worked as a toddler teacher at a privately owned school in Brookline, MA, and Melrose, MA, I also worked in a preschool center with a young toddler, preschool, and pre-K but I also received experience working in other classrooms when necessary as a floating Teacher.
I have studied at Urban College of Boston in pursuing my degree in early childhood education and I graduate in 2019. I am of Dominican descent and am fluent in Spanish! I've lived in the USA since I was 6 years old.
My educational philosophy is that children are constantly learning about the world around them through pretend play, social interaction, and some help and scaffolding from caregivers like myself!
I believe in creating a learning environment tailored to children's interests as well as creating learning opportunities that can lead to long-term skill development. Children love to learn and explore, and as a caregiver, I believe in fostering this concept! Also what makes me stand out from some of the most amazing teachers and caregivers is my ability to think creatively in my teaching! For example, if there is an activity related to playing with playdough, I try to think outside the box in how I deliver the activity. We know playdough helps strengthen children's fine motor skills but why stop there? Let's give them popsicle sticks to stick in the playdough? Let's be creative in all aspects of learning.
When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy having fun with my family and enjoy being devoted to my classes, visiting the library and museums.
I love nature and my best thing to do is read, I cannot express how excited I am to be part of this team and share my knowledge and passion for child development with the group!
