About me

I was born in Philadelphia, moved around quite a bit due to my father’s job as an Air Traffic Controller. We moved to San Diego in 1984 and lived there until last October. As an only child books became my escape and the characters my friends. I attended Junior High, High School and College in San Diego. I have worked with children and families for the last 20 years in various positions from social service worker, preschool teacher to Special Ed Tech for the San Diego Unified School District.
I began working for Head Start in 2000 as a Family Service Worker, in this position I was able to work with families from very diverse backgrounds, I worked Head Start for years and moved onto University of California at San Diego as a preschool teacher in the university’s Child Development Center, in this position while the families were very diverse they were all affluent. My classroom was filled with the children of professors, staff and students of the University. I left UCSD to take a position at my children’s school as a Guided Reading Teacher and worked there happily for five years.
In 2007, I went back to work with Head Start as a classroom teacher for another five years until the program went through reorganization in 2012. I took a position at KinderCare as a classroom teacher, I was there until 2014 working with children from 6 weeks to 6 years.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In five years I hope to truly be settled in my home and have found my true work family. I don’t want to go to work and feel unfulfilled. I’ve come to understand that my life’s purpose is to serve, to bring love and light not only to my family but my work family as well. I’ve tried working jobs that were void of children and families they never fulfilled me as when I’m working with children and families. Also in five years time I plan on having some international stamps in my renewed passport, COVID-19 willing.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love reading, baking days at the zoo or local farms to learn more about our food source. Trying new foods and recipes. Story time at a library of bookstore. I love learning new interesting things.
