About me

I am a born and bred New Yorker, I grew up as the youngest of two girls, but later adjusted to the role of big sister to two half brothers. I love sports, especially basketball, and played varsity in high school. I am passionate about fashion and music; I have been singing for most of my life and completed high school at a performing arts school. I have also been writing for as long as I can remember, that passion led me to focus on creative writing at the New School here in the city.

In college, I was the go-to babysitter for multiple families at night. I love being the reliable, go-to person for families, able to offer support if and when needed! In 2015 I held my first full time nanny position for a 9 year old girl and 12 year old boy. I was responsible for picking up the girl from school every day, providing snacks, coordinating play dates and social gatherings, helping with homework, playing, and preparing dinner for both children.

In my most recent position I worked for a family with a 13-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter. The daughter struggles with mental and emotional health and had recently returned from an inpatient facility when I began working with the family. I was responsible for keeping a safe environment and also tasked to develop, nurture and maintain relationships with both children. It was truly rewarding to see how far the daughter came over the course of my time there and I value the relationship we built.

I truly believe in treating children with the same courtesy and respect as adults — always keeping in mind they are not adults. Kids tend to gravitate towards me, which helps nurture bonds and develops trust. I know the right time to exercise authority, and also I think that kids can sense that I treat them with respect, which helps in overall discipline and emotional growth. I am an empathetic and generous person who feels that kindness is the most important quality we can show one another - not just children!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to be in a place in my life where I am able to travel; I never have been able to and it is something I profoundly crave in life. Truthfully, I don't know where I see myself in 5 years professionally, but I would be happy continuing my work with children. The great part about working with kids is that there are many different opportunities and so many avenues to go down. Children I work with have more unique qualities than individual adults I meet -- they are exciting and open to the world in ways adults are not. And I don't think I could ever get tired of that!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to play card games with children and have a few that are relatively unknown I like to share with kids! I also like to share my love of knitting and teach children how to do it. It is something that I find very soothing and can be a great coping mechanism and skill to master!
