About me

As a kid from a small cow town with working parents, I often had to find ways to keep myself entertained. I fell in love with music, theatre, and film young and pursued those passions with a B.A. in Theatre and Screenwriting in Phoenix, Arizona.

Despite this, most of my life has centered around education. By the time I was a high school junior, I was the lead counselor for a summer drama camp, where I would handle registration, drop off and pick up, and creative curriculum for nearly 30 kids, all aged from 2 to 13. Throughout high school, I made money as a babysitter through friends and family.

Before I went to college, I took on my first full time nanny position. An uncle had suffered a stroke and could not handle childcare of his 5 and 10 year old, so I became the full time nanny. I realized how much I loved working with children and continued childcare once I left that position to go to college. During my final year of school, I became the assistant to the director of a preschool, where I had many administrative responsibilities, acted as a substitute teacher, and was one of the daycare aides before and after school.

Between school years, I worked in a day center for developmentally disabled adults. I found a real passion for working with students with autism, and picked up many life skills, especially learning that every person learns differently and requires compassion.

After I graduated, I took up a new nanny position, and then left to become a substitute teacher. As a sub, I worked in pre-K classrooms through eighth grade, and was often requested to work in the autism classrooms.

For the past few years, I have hung up my childcare hat, working instead at a board game store as a manager and event runner. Before COVID, I worked several events with children, hosting board game parties and bringing games into classrooms.

I'm a professional with a diversity of experience that brings more than just childcare. I am confident in my ability to provide homework help, to offer behavioral intervention and reinforcement, and to encourage a child's imagination. I'm looking forward to meeting your family!
